Arts & Culture

$13 million for Calgary’s arts and culture

Calgary is a major hub of arts and culture, and our federal government is proud to invest in its success.

This includes helping Calgary’s creative organizations to build and upgrade new performance and rehearsal spaces, buy new equipment, enhance their programming, and plan for the future. The investments build stronger communities, improve social inclusion, create jobs, and make Calgary a more vibrant place to live.

Building and Upgrading Arts Infrastructure

$13 million invested into local arts and culture spaces.

Previously, Calgary never got its fair share of federal infrastructure funding. Our government has changed that. To see our other investments in Calgary infrastructure (including public transit, affordable housing, accessibility, flood mitigation and more), see our Infrastructure page.

Summer Jobs Supporting Students and Arts Groups

$110,000 invested in 2018 in Calgary Centre alone to create student jobs at arts organizations including Pumphouse Theatre, Downstage, Fairy Tales Presentation Society, Calgary Arts Development, Sled Island Arts Fellowship, Alberta Printmakers Society, Arts Commons, Youth Singers, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary, Untitled Art Society, Ghost River Theatre Society, and more.
